What the MAS program offers
Highlights of the Program
The MAS program (60 ECTS credits) in Implantology is based on a 3-year curriculum, starting each fall semester and includes the following:
- Hybrid lectures and literature discussions, every Monday afternoon during the semester.
- Two weeks of block teaching sessions with live surgeries, exciting workshops, lectures and excursions per year.
- Monthly one-to-one online tutorials.
- Participation in one international conference per year.
Qualification:
Participants are awarded the title Master of Advanced Studies in Oral Implantology of the University of Zurich.
Costs:
CHF 30.000.- (payable in 3 installments).
On-site Courses
The program starts each fall semester, beginning with the on-site week in late August.

Lectures & Literature Discussion
The weekly literature discussion and lecture is held every Monday during the semester from 4 PM to 6 PM (Zurich time) . Attendance at these events is mandatory, but it is also possible to follow the courses online.
Structure and ECTS points
1. Classroom and hybrid teaching (40 ECTS credits)
a. Evidence-based theoretical education in the fields of implant dentistry, reconstructive dentistry, periodontology and oral surgery: 12 ECTS credit
a.1) Structured lectures (seminars) on various topics (Implantology; Reconstructive Dentistry; Periodontology; Related Topics) (6 modules of 1 ECTS credit each = 6 ECTS credits)
a.2) Study of selected literature with guided discussion, related to the lectures.
(6 modules of 1 ECTS Credit = 6 ECTS Credits)
b. Practical and hands-on training in the fields of implantology and reconstructive dentistry: 21 ECTS credits
b.1) Case presentations with presentation, planning and discussion of patient cases.
(6 modules of 1 ECTS Credit each = 6 ECTS Credits)
b.2) Workshops with hands-on exercises and clinical observation of surgical procedures with teaching by experts. (6 modules of 1 ECTS Credit = 6 ECTS Credits)
b.3) Practical and theoretical continuing education courses, four days per year. (6 ECTS Credits)
b.4) Participation in professional excursions ; Participation in one international congress per year. (3 ECTS Credits)
c. Fundamentals of scientific work in dentistry with a focus on implantology: 7 ECTS Credits
c.1) Fundamentals of scientific work including statistics (6 ECTS Credits)
c. 2) Protocol development (1 ECTS Credit)
2. Clinical Case Documentation (10 ECTS Credits)
Preparation and documentation of 6 cases, case presentations, epicrisis.
3. Master thesis (10 ECTS Credits)
Publication of a clinical/preclinical study, review paper or case report.
